Salon Spring Cleaning – Refreshing for the Spring Season

Spring is a time of rebirth and renewal; a time for trees to grow new leaves and for flowers to bloom. This can also be true for your salon and your business. While the late winter/early spring season might see its ups and downs in client flow it’s the perfect time to evaluate what’s working and what’s not, to tidy things up and refresh your space, and to make things bright and new. Here we’ll look at four ideas for how to spruce up your salon for spring.

1 – SPRING CLEANING

Spring cleaning doesn’t need to be only a household tradition. Taking time to clean and thoroughly organize your salon space can help to enhance the visual appeal of your salon but can also boost the well-being of both you and your clients. Sanitizing all surfaces, clearing away clutter, and arranging your tools for efficiency can help keep you safe from germs and help to streamline your workflow. Decorating your salon with splashes of color or incorporating natural elements like plants or flowers can make the space more inviting for the season.

2 – REEVALUATE YOUR SERVICES

A Spring refresh doesn’t have to be limited to the organization and cleanliness of your salon and can extend to your entire menu and beyond. Taking time to examine what services you offer can help you to improve your overall bottom line for the season and beyond. Services and offers that are losing traction or never had it to begin with can be reevaluated, revamped, or removed; those that are doing “okay” can be boosted by considering incentive offers or freebies; new services can be added based on what’s trending in your area or nationwide; the list of possibilities is endless.

3 – REFINE YOUR ONLINE PRESENCE

Taking a good look at your salon’s website and social media presence can be a great way to make sure that it’s not only up to date but also appealing, competitive, and (most important of all) user friendly. Taking time to iron out potential rough edges and to update your website’s images and reevaluate your online booking system can go a long way toward making your clients and potential clients see that you’re serious about keeping things fresh and modern and that you’re thinking about their convenience as well as your earnings. Taking time to promote your salon and your skills on your social media accounts is a good idea year-round, but posting some refreshing new content can’t hurt either.

4 – BRAND REFRESH

Spring is a great time to look at your marketing materials, online imagery, and everything in between. If your salon’s visual style is starting to grow tired and stale it may be time for a makeover. Your clients’ hair isn’t the only place where visual appeal is important. If your signage, banners, or even logos are outdated or damaged it’s time to replace and/or update. This ties in perfectly with the first and third tips in this list and shows your clients that you care about your brand just as much as you care about their hair. One idea could be to examine what other salons might be doing with their websites, signage, and general decor and adopt what works and what appeals to you. Ultimately your branding is your design, but sometimes other brands can give you some great inspiration.
