Where do you generally go when you have questions about extensions? While answers can typically be found online, sometimes conflicting information across various websites can muddy the waters and make things a bit more confusing. What hair extension system is best for what purpose? What can you safely do with extensions and what should you avoid? How long can a client wear beaded strands or wefts? Is there any truth behind some of the myths surrounding extensions? Let’s answer some of those questions here:
Which system is best for volume?
Any of the systems are suitable to create volume in your hair. Beaded toppers are a different story as they are solely designed for volume and not so much for lengthening.
How do you choose the right system for thin or thick hair?
Thin or fine hair needs less hair extensions or density to match the natural hairstyle. Thick hair needs more hair to match the natural hair.
How long can a client wear strands or wefts?
With proper maintenance, beaded strands can easily be worn for up to three months, after which they must be removed and re-applied.
Wefts should be worn for no longer than six weeks and should be removed and reinstalled before that period ends to protect the quality of the natural hair.
Do hair extensions cause hair loss?
With proper application and maintenance, hair extensions will not cause hair loss. It’s important to choose the right extension system for your client’s hair type, and lifestyle and to install it in a way that allows it to sit comfortably and safely without pulling at the roots.
Can clients wear their hair up?
With the right system and proper application, your client can style their hair in any way they choose. Beaded wefts, and especially the Ultra weft, are designed to be discrete so that the application point is not noticeable.
What about clients with too little hair?
Clients suffering from hair loss or thinning hair can still benefit from hair extensions. Wefts can be installed for clients with thinning hair to increase volume and toppers can be utilized for more extreme cases of hair loss.
